Commack, NY- Tamron USA, Inc. announced the second in its series of four photo contests for 2010: Backyard Wildlife. This quarter’s contest asks entrants to submit photographic portraits of their local wildlife, whether found in their own backyard, local parks, or other urban and rural neighborhood areas. The contest is looking for local wildlife indigenous to the photographer’s home town, so photos from zoos, aquariums and the like will not be considered. IGPOTY Winter Competition 2010 Winner

Eye-Fi new Connect X2 and Explore X2 memory cards

Eye-Fi has announced the release of two new wireless SD memory cards of the X2 series. The 4GB Connect X2 and 8GB Explore X2 SD cards uses a class 6 transfer speed with an 802.11n radio for significantly faster uploads and Endless Memory mode. Also the Explorer card offers automatic geotagging.

Nikon celebrate the launch of new Coolpix cameras

Carl Zeiss celebrates its 120th anniversary of lens production

The company Carl Zeiss celebrates its 120 years of camera lens production this month. Polaroid instant films back to life

We were all sad when we heard about Polaroid announce of stopping the production of its famous instant Polaroid films. But luckily a team of engineers under the direction of The Impossible Project has finally succeeded in re-producing an instant film for traditional Polaroid cameras. The Impossible Project started in October 2008 at the last preserved Polaroid plant in Enschede(The Netherlands) with the aim to save analog Instant Photography from extinction after Polaroid discontinuity of instant films production.
